The community of Mariposa Montessori is founded on the belief that every individual should be treated with respect. We have set the following goals and characteristics for our community:

About Us

Mariposa Montessori is proud to be Austin's only American Montessori Society Fully Accredited Member school. Our campus is comprised of 4 buildings housing Nido Communities, Young Children’s Communities, Children’s Houses, Lower and Upper Elementary, and an Adolescent program. Mariposa Montessori School is dedicated to creating a loving community for the families of South Austin, built on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. Our children are supported and respected on every level; spiritually, emotionally, academically and socially.

The school began in October 2007 with six children in a Young Children’s Community and six in a Children’s House. Today, Mariposa is thriving with an enrollment of more than 180 students, supporting children from 8 weeks to 15 years old.

We are strongly committed to adhering to the Montessori approach to teaching without diluting the philosophy; we provide a high-quality Montessori education to every child enrolled. Each classroom employs an MACTE trained and certified lead guide, along with Montessori trained assistant guides. The classrooms are designed and equipped to meet the developmental needs of each child. Mariposa students benefit from personalized education, with an emphasis on cultivating social skills and teaching peaceful conflict resolution. At Mariposa, we nurture the whole child.
