Nido Support guide:

Responsibilities:

  • Upholds Mariposa’s Mission

  • Co-supervise and care for 8 infants ages 3-18mos. Is peaceful, positive, and gentle when handling infants.

  • Assists children with daily needs (diapering, eating, sleeping, etc.)

  • Assists in recording all events onto children’s daily charts.

  • Assists with maintaining beautiful, clean, and peaceful classroom environments.

  • Attends meetings with Lead Guide and staff meetings.

  • Attends training and continuing education classes. (At least 24 hrs. annually.)

  • Attends community events (at least half), including annual fundraiser.

  • Learns about Montessori method and applies philosophy in the classroom.

  • Is responsible for always knowing head count.

  • Assists community in maintenance of grounds.

  • Meets bi-annually with parents and lead to discuss children’s progress.

  • Participates in continuing self-evaluation process.

  • Informs Lead Guide or administration of any issues with children, staff, or parents.

  • Follow all guidelines in employee handbook and contract.

Job Description:

The Montessori Nido Support Guide is responsible for nurturing children and maintaining the prepared environment in which students thrive academically, socially, and physically. They are responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the children under their supervision. A Nido Support Guide should work enthusiastically with a team of colleagues, administrators, and parents to care for children both inside and outside the classroom. Job description and responsibilities are subject to change. If so, ample notice will be provided.

Hours: 9:30am-5:30pm

Salary: $17-18 an hour

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and care for children, preferably across levels from infants to middle school. We will consider applicants with level specific preferences.

  • Work cohesively with the lead teacher’s plans to prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences.

  • Prepare and maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children

  • Assist in guiding every child through self-directed activities, allowing them to develop at his or her own pace.

  • Along with lead teachers, foster a nurturing, safe, and stimulating, non-competitive environment.

  • Support children’s increasing independence with daily living skills.

Hours: as needed

Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
