A Brief History of our School...
Mariposa Montessori School was founded in 2007 by Whitney Falcon, an American Montessori Society certified Guide on the birth -3 year old level. Having moved to Austin in 2003 with her family, Whitney was interested in finding a place of employment, as well as a school for her children to attend. In turn, Whitney found that an additional Montessori School that followed the standards set forth by the American Montessori Society was needed in Austin. Her vision to create an environment that would meet those standards began to take shape as she worked at several schools from 2003-2006. Friends, family members, and respected directors of other Montessori Schools in the area urged Whitney to move forward with the idea of opening her own school. The outpouring of support was too much for her to deny. After almost a year of hard work, overcoming monumental challenges, and many hard lessons learned, Mariposa Montessori School was born!
